September signals the start of a new season and getting back into the school/work routine as we say goodbye to summer and the 6-week holiday. With bags to pack, lunch boxes to make and extracurricular activities to fit into the schedule, time can be short. However, we still want to make sure we’re looking after ourselves and our families so here’s some healthy and delicious ideas to keep everyone going through the day.

Snacks can make a real difference to your performance, mental concentration and mood, which is why it’s important to choose wisely. You may have read our previous post about how cutting down on caffeine can actually give you MORE energy – so be sure that snacks are free from this stimulant if you want to avoid energy crashes and sugar cravings during the day.

Here are some of our top caffeine- and refined sugar-free snack ideas for the whole family to enjoy, both at work and school!

SUPERTREATS-DIPPED FRUIT SALAD

Add a cheeky little twist to a fruit salad pot by melting one of our Supertreats carob bars, coating some of the fruit chunks with it and then chilling until set. It’s a surefire way to make anyone eat more fruit!

TRAIL MIX

Grab some mini pots and fill with a mixture of your favourite dried fruit – raisins, sultanas, dates, apricots, mango, cherries – and add a selection of nuts and seeds. The fat, protein and fibre content helps keep blood sugar levels steady – great for long-lasting energy!

VEGGIE STICKS & DIP

Make eating raw vegetable sticks like celery, cucumber, peppers and carrots a bit more interesting by packing a dip to dunk them in – houmous, guacamole, salsa, sour cream or cream cheese dips all work a treat.

CAROB CHUNK PROTEIN BALLS

Keep fuller for longer by making sure snacks are packed with protein. Our easy Carob Chunk Protein Ball recipe is great for making and keeping in the fridge for a week, popping a couple into your packed lunch for a tasty, healthy nibble.
